Oberammergau Passion Play 2010

Enjoy 5 nights in a lovely Italian mountain village near Lake Como before travelling on to Oberammergau for 2 nights, and the Passion Play.

YOUR OBERAMMERGAU EXPERIENCE

You arrive in Oberammergau the day before the performance. The package begins with dinner in the place of your accommodation. In the morning of the day of your performance you are free to do as you wish. Use the time for a leisurely stroll through the village of Oberammergau or a visit to the local sights such as the Oberammergau Museum, the Pilatus House or the Roman Catholic Parish Church of St. Peter and Paul. Lunch will be served in Oberammergau before the play begins and dinner during the interval. You will leave the next day after breakfast. Accommodation is situated either in Oberammergau itself (in the region of the Ammergau Alps) or in the local area. On arrival at your place of accommodation you will be given your admission ticket to the Passion Play, an informative programme book with the text of the Passion Play and an admission ticket to visit the Oberammergau Museum. Your physical well-being will also be taken care of: before the play begins an ample meal awaits you, and during the interval from 5pm to 8pm you will enjoy the best of Oberammergau gastronomy during dinner. All transportation you will need will be provided. Those who have experienced the Passion Play before will know how well-organised everything is!
The Passion Play Theatre has 4,720 seats! From all seats you have a good view of the stage. The acoustics in the whole Passion Play theatre are excellent. We cannot guarantee that everyone in a group will be seated together, but we will do our best to get as many people together as possible.

Camino’s 7- night package includes a delightful stay near Lake Como in Italy, just the other side of the Alps, with opportunities to explore the local area, to visit Lake Como, Bergamo, Verona and Lake Garda.

 

Hotel Miramonti is in the peaceful and picturesque  village of Rota d’Imagna, in the Prealpi Lombardi mountain range, about 750 metres (2,460 feet) above sea level. It is 16 miles from the mediaeval city of Bergamo and about 5 miles from Lake Como and the lakeside city of Lecco, and 30 miles north of Milan. The hotel has an excellent restaurant, ensuite rooms with balconies and all the facilities you would expect. This is a lovely area for relaxation, walking and exploration. There will be a chaplain with each tour and opportunities for daily prayer and worship. A recent visitor to the hotel said: Hotel Miramonti was a delightful place to stay - the rooms and the view were lovely but best of all the staff were so friendly - it is a family run hotel and everyone was so very helpful and friendly it made our holiday.

 

 

 Oberammergau is a small community – there are more people in the audience for each performance of the Play than the whole population of Oberammergau. This means that the whole local area supports the visitors and much of the accommodation offered is outside Oberammergau itself – though not far away. There is transport available so you are in no way disadvantaged if your accommodation is in one of the surrounding villages.

PACKAGE PRICES

In each case the package includes the stay at the Hotel Miramonti in Italy, where the accommodation is the same on all dates. The difference in prices is accounted for by the different accommodation available in or near Oberammergau. When you complete the booking form you will need to enter the price that includes the category of of the accommodation in Oberammergau you have selected. We will do our best to provide what you request, but if it is no longer available we will contact you to offer you the nearest available category and/or date. Participants of all denominations are welcome on the tours.
